Thanks, John

Heard about John Peel's death yesterday. The effect it had on me took me by surprise. I think it made me realise how much I thought of him, even though I haven't heard his show in years, being in the US. And even when I was in the UK, I only occasionally tuned in, but there was something about his honesty and originality that really made you warm to him.

I just loved his ecclecticism and his homely style with mistakes and all. I still don't understand how someone can feel like a favourite uncle and be at the cutting edge of 60 different genres of music. I guess he wasn't one for labels.

Thanks, John.
